§ 48-396. Policy.

  • (a)

    This division sets forth uniform requirements for dischargers into the POTW, and enables the county to protect the public health in conformity with all applicable state and federal laws relating thereto.

    (b)

    The objectives of this division, listed in priority order, are:

    (1)

    To prevent the introduction of pollutants into the POTW which will interfere with the normal operation of the system or which will interfere with the use or disposal of the wastewater sludge by the POTW;

    (2)

    To prevent the introduction of pollutants into the POTW which do not receive adequate treatment in the POTW, and which will pass through the system into receiving waters or the atmosphere or otherwise be incompatible with the system;

    (3)

    To improve the opportunity to recycle and reclaim wastewater and sludge from the system.

    (c)

    This division provides for the regulation of discharges into the POTW through the issuance of permits, execution of binding contracts, and enforcement of county sewer use ordinance.
